|Expekt.com, Unibet, and Globet.com, who describe themselves as ‘normally fierce competitors’ (which is odd considering they formed the European Betting Association together earlier this year), have announced the launch this week of Supertoto, a new online, pan European football pools designed to ‘challenge the betting monopolies of Europe.’|
A pool game is a game in which the total prize money is determined by the sum of all stakes from the punters and in most countries in Europe, governments own the monopolies of domestic football pools. In Supertoto entrants to the pool will have to predict the outcomes of fourteen football matches (home win, draw or away win). The matches will be selected from the best leagues in Europe, such as the Premier League in England, Primera Division in Spain, Serie A in Italy and the Bundesliga in Germany. A generous 80% of the stake will go into the pool – that’s twice as much as most government monopolised football pools.
The three bookmakers have formed a jointly owned company, Monnet Ltd, registered in Gibraltar, to facilitate their Supertoto operations.
