|With a tag-line ‘Watch the best, play with the best and live like the best’ EdgeTV, is positioning itself as the first 24-hour gaming network with a programme mix of 70 per cent original content while the rest is licensed. |
Backed by US$10 million in seed capital, EdgeTV is headed by telecom veteran Reagan Silber and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs Keith Richman and Charles Katz. The Creative Artists Agency (CAA) will assist the broadcaster in new business activities and content acquisition strategies.
‘We acknowledge that there is competition in the marketplace, but believe that this concept is clearly differentiated by its programming spectrum, strong capitalization and emerging partnerships with the creative and gaming communities. EdgeTV will be a comprehensive source for the games that people play. We anticipate that it will not only be strongly embraced, but demanded by viewers,’ said Reagen Silber.
To be launched in the first quarter of 2005, it promises to be a one-stop TV destination for all game players with casino games, fantasy sports, bridge, crosswords and host of games, all available at the touch of the remote. To beef up content, the Beverly Hills-based broadcaster is working out agreements with the US Chess Federation and American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, led by National Public Radio puzzle master.
