|London, 11/5/04) The Sporting Exchange, the company behind Betfair, the world’s largest betting exchange, today launched its new internet poker site (www.betfairpoker.com). The site features No Limit/Pot Limit games and multi-table tournaments amongst other games, resulting in an entertaining and secure gaming experience for players. |
Although not linked directly to www.betfair.com, the site will be marketed to the same customer base in the United Kingdom, and internationally. It will not be offered to residents of countries which ban offshore poker products, such as Australia.
Online poker has become increasingly popular over the last couple of years, attracting an increasing number of both casual players and seasoned professionals, and Betfair is confident that the success of its exchange model will be replicated on the poker site.
“Betfair is the clear leader in the global sports betting exchange market, and the launch of betfairpoker means the brand is moving to new places,” said Steve Ives, a director of Betfair Poker. “Betfair Poker will be the best integrated poker platform on the Internet and we are confident of rapidly establishing ourselves as a leader in this high growth market.”
Betfair Poker’s site has been developed using software licensed from the CryptoLogic Inc subsidiary, WagerLogic Limited.
