Cheering crowds of soccer fans leapt in a cheering frenzy this evening in unanimous applause for an unannounced player who scored a sudden golden strike, catching all unaware and arguably capturing hearts in one of the funniest UEFA moves for some time!
Yet, strangely enough, the star of the evening was from neither the Valencia nor Marseilles teams. Rather he was renowned British streaker, Mark Roberts, who struck gold once again, emblazoned with the now infamous Golden Palace tattoo.
Soccer fans were caught unaware as the torso tattooed, scantily dressed figure suddenly appeared from nowhere, leaping onto the pitch to show the competing teams some fancy footwork of his very own.
And once the initial surprise had passed, spectators were clearly amused.
'I've read about this kind of thing before in The Times during the Super Bowl, but I wasn’t expecting it here, especially given all the security, ...” said one British soccer fan who’d traveled all the way from London to watch the final. “The man just appeared from nowhere (laughs). At least he got smiles out of the Valencia and Marseilles team! I did think it was pretty funny, seeing him running about like that on the pitch. You can’t help but smile, and that’s not such a bad thing these days, you know! He had the whole place laughing for the longest time because security had difficulty catching him.'
