|Casino Morongo is to unveil a new 53,000-square-foot entertainment event center that will accommodate more than 7,000 patrons. The unveiling comes as part of a major expansion. Immediately west of the casino will be the sprung-structure center. The first event to be held in the new facility will be the November 11th championship competition ‘pankration,’ a form of mixed martial arts.|
The ‘Ultimate Pankration Championship’ is to feature six-time World Champion Kick boxer Danny ‘Hard As’ Steele, five-time World Maui Thai Champion Rob ‘Razor’ McCullough, Super Heavyweight World Champion Zane Frazier, and the return of Ultimate Fighting Champion Marco Ruas.
Casino Morongo general manager Bill Davis commented, “This will be the first opportunity to get the best seats and meet the fighters in person.” Davis also revealed that PerforMax Productions, a sports event production company that markets live and pay-per-view sports events would produce the event.
PerforMax Productions president Alyxzander Bear said, “Over the past decade, Pankration style fighting events have reappeared on cable and pay-per-view billed as ‘no-holds-barred,’ ‘ultimate fighting,’ and ‘extreme fighting.’ Pankration has developed a remarkable sports fan following and mixed martial art events have been consistently sold out.”
Bear himself has been active in the martial arts training and production industry for over thirty years. He claims that martial arts fights are attracting crowds up to 50,00 and millions of others through pay-per-view audiences.
