New Blackjack Game On Six Month Trial

“Next Card 21” is the latest variant on blackjack which will enjoy a six month trial run at Palace Stadium, and inventor Bobby Florence is hoping it will take off.

Long-serving dealer Florence’s variation on the popular card game allows players to place bets up to $5 with 10-1 odds on what their next card will be.

“I hope that this game can be spread all over the country- on cruise ships, reservations, anywhere there’s legalised gambling,” said Florence. “I think it has that type of potential.”

Jim Dickstein, director of casino operations at Palace Station is giving the game 6 months to prove itself, but warned of the cost of promoting a new game.

“Real estate in a casino is just like real estate in the real world, it has value on it. People are a little wary to try a game first because if you have to take a game out to make room for the new one, you can actually cost yourself thousands of dollars,” said Dickstein.
