(Malta, 13 July 2004)
WorldMatch, the first on-line gaming system authorised by a member country of the European Union, has signed an agreement with Game Network, a company of the Digital Bros group, to set up an on-line casino with the brand of the popular satellite channel devoted to videogames and multimedia entertainment.
As underlined by the President of WorldMatch, Mr. Fried, “The agreement integrates the WorldMatch mission, offering an entertaining and safe on-line form of leisure, with the high degree of interactivity offered by the Game Network TV channel.”
WorldMatch is a Maltese company, designed by experts in the gaming and in the software sectors. The start-up investment, amounting to over 2 million euro, was provided by the Compagnia Fiduciaria, based in Genoa (Italy), representing a group of Italian saving investors, who decided to support this innovative proposal on on-line gaming, complying with the strict requirements of the Maltese laws. The project aims at providing an on-line gaming service, distributed and certified by qualified testimonials. “WorldMatch - said Mr. Fried - is not going in the market with its own casino, but through testimonials, that is companies with well-known brands, such as tour operators, sports companies, internet portals, cruise lines, which have conquered the trust of their customers and together with WorldMatch have decided to offer them an alternative form of entertainment.” One of the first WorldMatch partner is Game Network TV, broadcasting free-to-air in Europe through Eutelsat and Astra.
WORLDMATCH PROJECT. Gaming services are already popular because of the wider use of Internet, and they will have a significant drive at international level. According to Datamonitor, the number of regular players on the net is expected to rise from 5 million in 2000 to over 15 million in 2005, with a total turnover exceeding 30 billion euros.
In such a big and growing market, those choosing WorldMatch are protected by many security mechanisms. “WorldMatch, starting from the assumption that the set-up and the management of casinos imply a moral responsibility, has chosen Malta, which from the 1st May is a member country of the European Union” said Mr. Fried “This country is in a position to offer reliability and political stability, a very strict regulation was passed, establishing mandatory checks on players, game limits, and anti-money laundering measures.” “One of central elements in the planning of the WorldMatch system was security, guaranteed in in-built system mechanisms and through the selection of control levels in access and firewalling.”
Thanks to its guarantees, WorldMatch is negotiating with over 180 testimonials of well-known brands. Over the next three years, WorldMatch is estimated to acquire 10% of the European market with a gross turnover of 500 million euros and a gross revenue of about 50 million euros.
PLAYING IN TOTAL SECURITY. Under the new Maltese law, WorldMatch has a tight control system on players under 18: in the registration process, users are required to type the ID number in order to access games with real money and the necessary checks are carried out to prevent users under 18 to play with real money. WorldMatch games guarantee high pay-outs and implements precautionary measures to prevent users from betting excessive sums of money.
WorldMatch fully complies with the restrictive rules of the Maltese legislation, including in terms of game systems: the timer is always on during the game, the system stops after an hour of playing with real money, monitoring players to avoid players losing high sums of money. A section of the site is devoted to information on the risk of pathological addiction and lists the links to help associations.
WorldMatch has fixed well-defined limits. Players may establish their own limits, setting the maximum level of stakes; levels may be risen, and limits may be cancelled only after seven days to prevent rash decisions when playing.
WorldMatch has decided to have all its games certified by Cermet, one of the leading certification companies in Italy, with State shareholding and the participation of consumers’ associations, thus providing guarantees of independence and reliability that companies long for and that are not easy to find.
