Olympic interloper sentenced in Greek Court

The tutu clad Golden Palace inspired stuntman who made a splash at the Olympic Men’s Synchronized Springboard Finals this week, by evading dozy security officials to hurl himself from the diving platform, was sentenced to five months in jail and fined 2000 euro by a Greek court today.

Canadian, Ron Bensimhon, who appeared in a similar stunt at World Figure Skating Championships in Germany last March, immediately appealed the sentence and was released without bail.

The prankster said he had not meant to disrupt the competition, adding: “I wanted to have fun but I never knew it would finish like this. I thought they'd laugh about it.'

The Greeks, who had spent $1.9 billion on Games security, were clearly embarrassed by the stunt, although they took some solace when they finished first, winning their first gold medal of the games.
