|WagerOnSports.com have just released their odds offered concerning the American college football season. The betting site is now offering punters odds on who will win the coveted Heisman trophy for being the best player this season. For those interested in the college league, or just those interested in hard to pick bets, itís an attractive area of interest as the trophy is thought to have many strong contenders.|
At the moment the favourite being offered is Matt Leinart, the USC quarterback who is currently being offered at 4/1 odds. Just behind him are Darren Sproles of Kansas State at 5/1 and the reigning winner Jason White at 8/1. If Jason White did win for a second year he would be only the second person to do so in the history of the sport.
Odds maker at WagerOnSports, Michael Perry, released a statement to launch the new betting option, explaining the reasons behind the rankings offered. In this commentary he said that, 'When creating odds on the Heisman Trophy race, we took a number of factors into consideration, including the strength of schedule, national media exposure, past success of each candidate and, most importantly, the fact the trophy has been awarded to a quarterback in each of the past four seasons. Because of his offense's proficient passing attack, the amount of television exposure he'll receive and knowing that USC is the favorite to win this year's National Championship, it was easy to pick Matt Leinart as our favorite to win this year's Heisman.'
Following these leaders some longer but still strong odds are being offered for Georgiaís David Greene and running back at Auburn Carnell Williams both at 10/1, Mike Williams of USC and Cedric Benson both at 12/1, Wisconsinís Anthony Davis and Missouriís Brad Smith at 15/1 and Chris Leak of Florida at 16/1.
A complimentary betting option also being offered on the site is the chance to bet on which position the overall winner will play in. Quarterback is the clear favourite offered at 1/10, running back follows at 2/1, then wide receiver and tight end are offered at 4/1. Defensive players trail at 10/1, offensive lineman is at 20/1 and then special teams player is offered at 50/1.
