|Management consultant and special advisor to the gaming industry, The Gambling Consultancy, has voiced concern of the possible delay to the passage of the Gambling Bill by current legislation to force a ban on fox hunting through the House of Commons.|
Steve Donoughue of the Gambling Consultancy says this is a highly sensitive time for gambling legislation and that Bill needs to be passed before the next general election is announced or industry could be waiting another two years. Donoghue is anxious that the commotion surrounding the Fox Hunting Bill could completely knock it off the agenda.
He told ateonline.co.uk that: “A vote banning fox hunting in the Commons will have serious consequences for any Gambling Bill. If the Lords rebel against the use of the Parliament Act, this will probably mean upsetting the government’s timetable and peers not responding to the party line, all of which could impact on the passage of the Gambling Bill through the Lords.”
