Who will be the 2004 MLB NL WildCard? Asks WagerWeb.com
By philip
In what looks to be the closest and most exciting wildcard races since the system was introduced in 1995, with eight teams fighting for three playoff spots in the NL, one of them being the wildcard, WagerWeb.com have posted some tantalising on odds on the situation.

'The fact that only 6.5 games separate the Giants/Cubs and the Phillies, with three teams in between, leaves open many possibilities' Dave Johnson, CEO of WagerWeb.com, told us. ‘The cliché ‘every game counts' could not be more true going down the stretch this season in NL wildcard race. We have gotten significant wagers on all the teams still alive in the wildcard race, as well as a decent amount of wagers on the current NL West leader Los Angeles Dodgers.'

San Francisco Giants (2:1) +$200

Chicago Cubs (3:1) +$300

Houston Astros (3:1) +$300

Florida Marlins (4:1) +$400

San Diego Padres (5:1) +$500

Los Angeles Dodgers (8:1) +$800

Philadelphia Phillies (10:1) +$1000

Atlanta Braves (15:1) +$1500

Any Other Team (30:1) +$3000

‘Considering the new unbalanced schedule,’ adds Johnson, ‘and that most of the teams in the wildcard race are in the same division, they are going to be seeing a lot of each other in the last month of the season. On top of that, add the fact that other teams in the same division as the wildcard contenders will be looking to play spoiler as many of those teams like the Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets were once in the wildcard race themselves.’
