|Columbus, OH – One of the nation’s largest horse wagering services has announced that it is offering free race replays to its customers, which is included in a series of recent upgrades that includes instant scratches, will-pays, and new scheduling features.|
The Instant Race Replays launched as a free service for an unspecified period of time. The current set of available replays are archived to December 1, 2003 but company officials said more archives will be added later.
“We took a long look at how we could provide the technical means to provide this service, yet protect the horsemen and the copyrights of the tracks themselves,” said Charles J. Ruma, president of AmericaTab. “At this time most tracks have granted permission to replay the races because we have implemented safeguards that protect their rights.”
AmericaTab was one of the first on-line wagering sites to offer the race library and offers them for free to their customers. The replays have been available through a beta testing program since April and launched this week with a new style and process. Three replays will be offered where available for each race. The customer will have a selection of Pan Camera, Head-on, or Photo Finish angles. These replays will be accessed in the results section for the race, offering the customer one location to receive a better review of the history of any race in the library system. An icon will appear that emulates a video camera, similar to the video link by each race that appears in the live odds and wagering screen for live racing video. A link for Race Replays also will appear under the Live Video link in the Manage Your Account page on the wagering site.
Company officials said they are working on making the replays compatible with most browsers and that it is ready for release to users of Internet Explorer 5 and above, and Netscape 7.1 or higher.
In first quarter AmericaTab also implemented its services for will-pays and real-time horse scratches. The will-pay is a new feature on the Live Odds and Wagering screen that displays the payoffs for all tracks that provide the data. This service is also in the Live Odds and Wagering under the exotic wagering section. Instant scratches now appear in the program section for each race. A new schedule feature displays track cancellations and will allow a user to load their virtual tote board directly from schedule links.
The company is vigorously attracting new customers with bonus day promotions, attractive sign-up offers, contests, and friend referral programs. Its series of Homefield Advantage offers its customers an insight into the tracks by providing handicapping hints, post position stats, and trivia selected by the experts at the tracks themselves. October offers a look at Oak Tree Racing Association during its weekend of the $500,000 Yellow Ribbon Stakes, the $500,000 Goodwood Breeders’ Cup Handicap, and the $200,000 Oak Leaf.
