|Betfair has said it has begun to monitor and archive all staff communications sent through Instant Messaging with IMlogic's IM Manager, after identifying a need to have a permanent record of staff conversations.|
Betfair.com employees use IM on a daily bass, preferring the system over emails and internal phone calls IM because it is 'less intrusive, more secure, collaborative and faster' than email.
'We chose IMlogic because it integrates with existing instant messaging technology and is scalable, although we did have a few technological issues at the beginning,' said Rorie Devine, infrastructure director of Betfair.com.
The company employs 400 people in the UK and has many more across the globe. 'Such a system would be useful for any company with a need to monitor and archive company information,' explained Devine.
The company added that it is concsidering an IM facilty to it website’s front page.
