|WagerOnSports have updated the odds being offered on one of their more unusual bets offered. The site has been setting odds on which of the 32 NFL coaches will be the first to be sacked this season, and following early performances of some teams, has updated their original odds. The changes are a reaction to some coaches already facing intensifying pressure over the poor performance of their teams.|
Some of the early favourites have so far not performed as expected, while a few of the underdogs seem to be turning their fortunes around. Only a month into the season, the action so far has produced mixed results. The new odds see Dave Wannstedt of the Miami Dolphins now becoming the favourite after four consecutive losses. His odds are now posted at 2/1.
Following behind at 5/2 is Dennis Erickson, and Jim Haslett is in third place at 4/1. Original favourite Marty Schottenheimer of San Diego has seen his odds fall from the opening 3/1 to 5/1, after his teamís unexpected success. Odds maker at the site Michael Perry explained the choices: 'We're only four weeks into the NFL season and the fans and media in some markets are already clamoring for their head coach's job. Things really couldn't be much worse in Miami where the offense is sputtering and the team has suffered through numerous injuries, the suprising retirement of their star running back and a QB controversy. If it keeps up, Dave Wannstedt might not make it to Halloween. Meanwhile the West Coast has a team of its own laying claim to the dubious distinction of being the league's worst in San Francisco. The 49ers are rebuilding for the future, but that doesn't necessarily mean Dennis Erickson has any job security and the front office may decide a change at the top is best for the future of the franchise.'
