A court in Madison saw two men plead guilty after being accused of running an offshore Internet gambling operation. The 1962 wire act still applies according to this court and the offshore operation was found to be operating illegally.

Duane Pede and Jeff D’Ambrosia, the operators of Gold Medal Sports had to pay just under $1.5 million in back taxes as part of their guilty plea. The site will also have to forfeit over $3 million in criminal earnings.

The gambling site operated from the Netherlands, and was anchored at a building in Nelsonville, WI. Pede used nine satellite dishes to keep tabs on sports.
