|Fred Drone’s BetFred, which bills itself as the ‘largest independent bookmaker’ has filed profits of over ten million pounds, thanks to a recent expansion program, that has seen the Manchester company, grow to a major high street presence, with 450 betting shops, and launch telephone and internet betting services. The company also changed its name from Done Brothers to snappier sounding, BetFred. |
Pre- tax profits rocketed to £10.4m in the year to March 2004, up from £1.03m the previous year and sales jumped from £379m to £553m. The Manchester company said that it had enjoyed 'an excellent year's trading,' helped by fixed-odds betting terminals that have also boosted profits of rival bookmakers Stanley Leisure and William Hill.
