|The World Trade Organization has upheld its original ruling that the US should drop prohibition on its citizens gambling on offshore gaming sites, in a 287-page report published November 10th. The organization saw fit not to rethink it decision of last March, which upheld the tiny island of Antigua’s complaint that US policy contravened international free trading laws.|
Washington, predictably, reacted angrily to the report, labeling it ‘deeply flawed’ and adding that it would contest the ruling ‘vigorously’.
John Ash, Antigua's ambassador to the United Nations, however, praised the WTO’s stance. 'We believe that throughout the proceedings, we presented convincing evidence and persuasive arguments,' he told The Associated Press. 'We're prepared to see this all the way through,' he said.
