|GoldenPalace.com has recently been on a bit of a publicity drive by buying useless trinkets for huge amounts of money and landing themselves in the press. This week the company did it again by buying a plate from a homeless man that had won the hearts of the American public.|
The man, Jay Sherman recently became homeless. He claims to have a plate from the Titanic, which belonged to his great Aunt. He was trying to hawk it to buy a roof over his head. The online casino came to his rescue and has offered him $10,000 with another $10,000 if the sale gets enough publicity.
GoldenPalace recently also bought a haunted walking stick and a cheese sandwhich that looks a bit like the Mother Mary.
'It's a blessing,' Jay Sherman said in a casual news conference outside the downtown Dallas library. 'First I'm going to take care of the people who loaned me money. Then I'm going to work hard to get a job and make a living.'
The plate belonged to Jay's great-aunt, who was said to be a Titanic survivor. Although the manufacturer authenticated the plate as made for the famous ship, Jay could never prove his aunt Eva Freada Husted was aboard it.
Most Titanic trinkets reach in the region of $100,000, but this seems to be out of the casino’s budget, but Sherman said,'I can't look at a blessing and say I'm disappointed. You just don't know how it is to live under a bridge.”
