|Las Vegas, Nevada – Regular season football may have come to an end, but the action is just starting as the National Football League enters into the post-season playoffs that will determine who this year’s Super Bowl contenders are. As momentum begins to build towards the excitement that comes with the end of the season, one web site in particular is generating an unprecedented amount of attention, and is beginning to turn heads in the world of sports gaming.|
Sports Gaming Radio (.com) is an internet radio station that focuses extensively on broadcasts oriented towards sports fans and those who enjoy wagering on games. The site is owned and operated by the Sports Gaming Players Network (SGPN) of Las Vegas, Nevada. SGPN provides a variety of services targeted towards sports gaming enthusiasts, including separate divisions for publishing and broadcasting.
The most popular program available on Sports Corner during the weeks leading up to the NFL Play Off games has quickly become Sports Corner. This one-hour program is hosted by SGPN founder, Rod Myers, and co-hosted by television actress Danielle Fishel. Sports Corner is aired live each weeknight at 6pm P.T. The program is also broadcast nation-wide on the Cable Radio Network, and all previous episodes are available on the site’s play-on-demand archives.
“People who like to bet on sports need access to important information, and Sports Corner gives them access to the experts who have that information.” Myers stated in a public announcement.
Guests on the show vary from listeners who simply want to share their opinion or ask a question, to reputable sports analysts and handicappers, such as Gold Picks and Top Hat Sports. Perhaps the most popular guest on the show is ‘Dan the Man’ from Wager Web (.com). Dan calls in each Thursday night to give listeners an inside glimpse at moves that are being made behind the scenes of one of the internet’s most popular sportsbooks.
While Sports Corner is currently the most popular program on the web site, this popularity will be short lived. Sports Gaming Radio has announced plans to remove the show from their format, to be replaced by a new program titled Inside Sports Wagering. The new program will carry a faster paced format with a stronger emphasis on the betting aspect of the games. In addition to standard College and NFL coverage, the show will also cover the Arena Football and NFL-Europe leagues.
Sports Gaming Radio has not only found a strong following among the public, but has also attracted the attention of industry insiders as well. Myers was recently interviewed by Business Week pertaining to the general state of the industry, and the appearance in the article resulted in the SGPN being invited to be a panelist at the Gaming Economy Conference.
The conference is produced by The Wall Street Transcript and held this February in New York City. The SGPN has been invited to speak on a variety of topics relating to the future of the betting industry in America, in light of Antigua’s WTO suit against the United States for activities relating to internet gambling on sports and games of chance.
