|In a frenzied voting session during the Channel 425’s Racing Live programme on Thursday night, it was Coventry owner and regular Iain Hill who stepped forward to receive the winner’s trophy, a £1000 in betting vouchers from William Hill and an invitation to star on the show in the future.|
On Friday morning, Iain commented: “I am still coming drown from cloud nine! I've always loved greyhound racing and been active as a punter and an owner for some years, but it was down to all my friends and family who encouraged me to go for it or I'd never have entered.”
Over 100 applications were whittled down by the judging team, including the Racing Post's Jonathon Hobbs and CH4 Racing’s Tanya Stevenson. The dozen short listed hopefuls battled through a series of screen tests before the Final Five took a short stint in the pundits chair to be grilled about their knowledge, tip winners, and provide an 'expert' analysis of a number of races
Iain added, “I have to say, all the other finalists were superb and we all got along great behind the scenes.'
David Hood, PR Director for Hills commented, 'They all did exceptionally well. None of them had any TV background prior to this competition and despite it being a nerve-racking experience they all demonstrated real professionalism. Iain proved really popular with the viewers, and I think it was his relaxed manner and good tipping ability which swung a few votes his way. We'll be inviting him down for a couple of shifts in the near future.'
