William Hill are offering odds of 11/10 that Gordon Brown will not be Chancellor when the first Budget of 2006 is given, and 4/6 that he will be.

The bookies are offering 11/10 that Brown will raise the cost of a packet of 20 cigarettes in this week's Budget by 11p or more; 11/10 by 9p or less and 5/1 by 10p exactly. The company also think there is a 12/5 chance that a pint of Beer will go up by 3p or more in the Budget; 5/2 2p and 5/6 nothing or 1p.

Hills are offering 4/6 that the Chancellor mentions the words 'prudent' or 'prudence' three or more times during his speech; 11/10 two or fewer.

The Chancellor's Budget Speech is a 7/2 chance to last between 56-60 minutes; 9/2 51 to 55; 9/2 61 to 66; 11/2 46 to 50; 6/1 66 to 70; 7/1 71 to 75; 8/1 76 to 80; 8/1 over 80 minutes; 12/1 under 46minutes.
