|The world’s largest online bookmaker, Sportsbook.com, has stolen a march on its rivals by being the first to post odds for the Most Valuable Player Award, in the up-coming 2005 NFL season. Last year’s winner, Indianapolis Colts’ Peyton Manning is favourite to retain the award at 4-1, with McNabb (Philadelphia) and Vick (Atlanta) some way behind at 10-1. |
The front-runners are all quarterbacks, but the highest rated player in another position is running back LaDanian Tomlinson (San Diego) at 18-1.
“There are so many outstanding and exciting players in the league today that picking the MVP is not going to be easy,” says Peter Childs, Odds Maker at Sportsbook.com. “Manning is coming off such a great season in 2004, has a great crop of receivers and he’s still in his prime. He has to be considered the favorite but with all the talent out there it’s certainly not a foregone conclusion that he’ll win.”
Also looking a good outside bet are 100-1 bet Kurt Warner, 2001 winner, and Alex Smith at 200-1.
