|According to the Las Vegas Sun, the Aladdin hotel-casino has been awarded the maximum statutory damages totaling $100,00 plus interest against an online casino that had been using the Aladdin name on its “Worldbet.net” site. |
A federal judge found that the Bahamas-based Giordano Casinos and its owner Angelo Giordano had violated an injunction to stop using the name in “a willful and contemptuous manner.”
Giordano Casinos were ordered to stop using the Aladdin name to advertise or promote gambling, casino or entertainment services in April 2000. Aladdin said that the defendants had “blatantly refused to cease and desist in the face of repeated demands and in violation of the court’s injunctive orders”. Aladdin was also awarded $15,865 in legal costs.
