Online Betting Exchange Cash Up Shareholders
By Andrew
After shelving plans for a £1billion flotation, Betfair is preparing to release cash back to its shareholders by way of compensation.

Robert Horton, Betfair chairman, is considering two options – either a large dividend to ease the pressure to float or an internal market to allow investors to buy each other out.

A float had been planned for the first quarter of next year but is now unlikely before 2007. The flotation was initially designed as an exit for shareholders but with the company now having no pressing need to raise new money to fund its global expansion, Betfair is waiting until the right moment to continue with its original plans.
