Online Casino Clash: Empire Takes On PartyGaming
By James
Empire Online has begun legal proceedings in Gibraltar's High Court against former partner PartyGaming, claiming a breach of contract.

Empire said, ‘The Company seeks substantial damages and injunctive relief from PartyGaming,’

Empire gave no further details, but a source close to the company said Empire was claiming that PartyGaming had breached contracts by marketing to Empire's best customers after breaking up their previous alliance.

PartyGaming denied the allegations. Director of Communications, John Shepherd, said, ‘We congratulate Empire on kick-starting the pantomime season. We remain confident of a successful outcome to the litigation with Empire.’

PartyGaming entered talks to buy Empire early last month, but the talks collapsed within three weeks. Shepherd said, ‘If this legal action is in any way an attempt by Empire to bounce us into a deal, then they had better go back to the drawing board.’
