|World Gaming plc has realised plans to enter the underserved Pacific-Asia market with the release of 16 instant play Java casino games in Chinese and Japanese. Analysts describe the region as one of the fastest growing I-gaming marketplaces.|
“Multi-language and multi-currency offerings remain high priorities as we endeavour to meet the needs of our licensees who wish to pursue growth opporutities in international markets,” said Mike Aymong, CEO of World Gaming. “The Asian market remains a diverse, high-growth market with a positive outlook for the I-gaming industry.”
According to a recent Bear Stearns report, the Asian population has the highest propensity and frequency of wagering in the world. Furthermore, Merrill Lynch reports that Asian Internet users currently account for 8.6 per cent of the world’s online consumer spending. That figure is expected to climb to more than 25 per cent by 2005. The River City Group estimates that the Asian I-gaming will see similar growth over the same period.
“This release not only reflects our efforts to grow the number of players on the World Gaming platform, but it is also a concrete step toward the further diversification of that player base,” said Rodney Davis, interm COO and CFO of World Gaming. “The Asian market is currently underserved and we intend to provide our licensees with culturally specific online products to be successful in the region.”
World Gaming, a global pioneer in I-gaming technologies, offers sportsbook betting, pari-mutuel wagering and casino games available in instant-play Java and downloadable Windows formats.
