Germany, Norway Favourites for Torino Gold
By Andrew has opened the markets the fast-approaching Winter Olympic in Turin, Italy. The games kick off in just over a week with more than 2500 athletes from 85 nations set to compete for 84 Olympic medals.

Wagering options include: Highest Medal Count (Country) and all individual events such as Men’s Ice Hockey.

The favourites to capture the most Gold Medals are Germany and Norway (5-4), followed by the U.S. (7-2), Russia (11-2) and Canada (25-1). Great Britain, Denmark, Poland and the Czech Republic are considered rank outsiders, all at odds of 1000-1.

Despite their lack of favouritism, the US may cause a few surprises in Italy after strong preparation and team spirit. In 2002 at Salt Lake City, the Americans won 34 medals including 10 gold. Although they would need to improve on this total in order to vie for the penultimate position atop the medal tally, pundits believe the US still represents good value at 7-2.

Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director,, said, ‘The Olympics unite sports enthusiasts around the world with everyone cheering on their hometown heroes and admiring the skills of the top ranked athletes. Everybody bets and with some really high profile and sometimes controversial athletes like Bode Miller, there's a lot of hype and interest in the Games.’
